Febuary 2017

In July: Once in a Blue Moon

Inspired by the allure and beauty of the Willapa Bay, Penny Treat and Renee O’Connor are our featured artists for July. The artists will share memorable

stories with the public of living and working on this bay. Together they celebrate the Willapa Bay’s gifts of wildlife, bounty, storms, tranquility

and it’s infamous Blue Moon.

Surrounding by mature flowering rhododendrons, garden delights of peach flyaway poppies, peonies, scented roses, butterflies and hummingbirds, Penny’s watercolors and wood block prints capture the bounty of her bay front property in the spring and summer.

The ever-changing tides, wind and light on the bay are captured in Renee’s subtle, elegant, pottery. She will feature large ceramic wall pieces including organic vases and platters and mosaic jewelry. Artists and nature have collaborated to give us art and pottery seen only once in a Blue Moon.

Artists Reception is from 3-7 p.m. on July 7th.

In August: Living by the Sea

The new August exhibit titled “Living by the Sea” starts at ArtPort Gallery on August 4th, with an artist reception from 4-7pm. Featured artists will be goldsmith Luisa Mack and famous painter Eric Wiegardt.

The artists share a common fascination with our local environment and never stop finding inspiration in their surroundings. They will be showing recent work, some of which has not been seen before!

Luisa Mack will be exhibiting her newest collection made from silver, speckled with gold and gemstones. She finds inspiration in the never ending movement of water and the pattern it leaves behind. Mack graduated from the University Pforzheim, Germany, which is well-known for their excellent jewelry-making, with a Bachelor degree in Jewelry- and Object-Design. After finishing four and a half years of study, she moved to Washington to live with her husband and is now creating her one of a kind, exquisite jewelry on the Long Beach peninsula.

Eric Wiegardt is showing his world-renown watercolor and acrylic masterpieces. As a long-time resident of the peninsula, he continues to find never ending beauty the Pacific Ocean. Wiegardt graduated from the American Academy of Art, Chicago, and continues to leave his indelible mark on both the American and International art scene.

June Exhibit

Paintings by Wally Mann

In September: Portals to the Pacific Ocean

In September we are featuring artists Wally Mann and David Campiche, two exceptional masters of their mediums. An Artists reception will be held on September 1st from 5-7 pm.
The exhibit contains recent work from each artist depicting the richness of our Oregon and Washington low lands; a unique environment where water meets land.

Wally Mann sensitively paints the scenes and people that have inspired him on annual travels, visits to Astoria, Oregon and working in his studio and living in Tokeland, Washington. He sometimes creates unusual perspectives and his subjects range from boats and harbors to windswept barns and bridges, all scenes that capture the light, color and texture of our unique local environment.  Wally is a master painter and a multiple award-winning artist.

David Campiche, is a well-known Shelburne Innkeeper, potter, community leader and volunteer, teacher, chef and writer. David reflects the spirit of the peninsula, the wild place he calls home, in his diverse pottery and large ceramic sculptures. His Seaview studio is often filled to the brim with donation bowls for the hungry, commissioned pottery, exhibition pieces and exotic work in progress. This multitalented artist is embodied in his signature Spirit Bowls. Each bowl contains special organic elements that are trapped inside. They rattle and convey a message of comfort when shaken.

The artists are long-time residents of the Pacific Coast and they will share stories of their subjects, work habits and the inspiration they draw from daily to create outstanding art and pottery.
